James “Jim” Richard Wise, 66, Greentown, passed away at 6:09 p.m., in St. Vincent Hospital, Kokomo, on Monday, July 8, 2019. He was born, in Frankfort, Indiana, on July 9, 1952 to Cedric and Joann (Wardwell) Wise.
He graduated from Eastern High School in 1970 where he played football as linebacker and kicker for the Comets. He served in the United States Air Force from 1971 until 1975. Jim married Jean Ann (Myers) on February 1, 1970, and she survives. He had worked for the U.S. Navy at Great Lakes as a Civil Servant, Naval Avionics in Indianapolis and sold cars for Collins Oldsmobile.
Jim was a member of Meridian Street Christian Church and a member of the Greentown Lions Club. He worked for more than 35 years as a security guard in the Gasoline Alley garage area at the Indianapolis 500. He enjoyed coaching football, riding his motorcycle and watching the Chicago Cubs games with his sons. He dearly loved his grandchildren and the joy that they brought to his life.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Ann Wise; sons, Jason (Lisa) Wise and Jacob (Jennifer) Wise; grandchildren, Austin, Whitney, Ethan, Cedric and Avalea; great-grandchildren, Ivoryanna and Ivon; brother, Jerry Wise; and sister, Marcile Wise.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father and mother–in-law, Wendell and Beverley Myers.
Visitation for family and friends will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Jim Soblotne and Elder Dave Turner officiating. Burial will follow the service in Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown, with military rites by the American Legion Post #317.
