Jamakie A. Riggs, 80, Kokomo, passed away at 1:34 pm, Sunday, March 10, 2019, at Century Villa Healthcare in Greentown. She was born June 12, 1938, in Kokomo, the daughter of the late Charles Franklin Ford & Hazel Lousia (Ellison) Ford. On December 4, 1960, at First Church of the Nazarene, she married Wayne Rogers Riggs, who preceded her in death on December 19, 2013.
Jamakie graduated from Kokomo High School in 1956. She worked for Sunray Cleaners, Stites Cleaners, Singer, Iron skillet, Sears, K & S, Cuneo Press, Wholesale Electric, and as a child care provider. Jamakie was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, the Boy Scouts and Girl Scout of America, and a 60+ year member of the Extention Homemakers.
Jamakie is survived by her children, David L. (Janelle) Riggs, and Pamela L. (Greg) Wainscott; grandchildren, La’el R. (Matt) Bender, and Brandon A. (Jen) Wainscott; and brother, Jerry A. (Cheryl) Ford, along with several nieces and nephews.
Jamakie was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Stan Zurcher officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from Noon-1:30 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
