Herbert Clark Obituary

Herbert Junior Clark, 89, Kokomo, died at 3:50 a.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Golden Living Center. He was born August 16, 1929, in Kokomo, the son of the late Elvin and Rispa E. (Burnett) Clark.  He married the love of his life, Estelle A. Dunn September 2, 1950, in Kokomo, and she survives.

He served in the National Guard from 1947 to 1953 and in the Army Reserve from 1954 to 1977 and retired with the rank of Master Sergeant, E-8.

Herb retired as a Liaison Engineer for Chrysler Corp. in 1992, where he also worked as a Quality Control Supervisor, having served for 45 years.  His job involved some travel, and he enjoyed visiting other car plants.  Prior employment included working in a bowling alley as a pin setter and in a grocery store where he met his wife. He often enjoyed working at the Indy 500 in security (yellow shirts).

He attended Beamer United Methodist Church for 30 years and served in many leadership positions. When Beamer closed, he went to Zion United Methodist Church where he became an active member and thoroughly loved the church. He enjoyed working in the yard and planting flowers. His passion was decorating for Christmas, and he will be remembered by many for his creative holiday displays. Herb was first and foremost a family man.

Herb is survived by his wife of 68 years, Estelle;  two sons, Terry Clark and his wife Juanita of Kokomo,  Tim Clark and his wife Julie of Westfield; one grandson, Mike Clark of Kokomo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; seven sisters, and two brothers.
