Georgia (Francis) Sandlin

Georgia (Francis) Sandlin, 95, Greentown, passed away June 15, 2019, at Century Villa Healthcare in Greentown.  She was born August 27, 1923, in Barwick, KY, the daughter of the late Jason & Rhoda (Morris) Francis.  On August 17, 1945, she married Walter Sandlin who preceded her in death March 24, 1976. 

Georgia was an avid reader and loved gardening.  Her flower garden was the envy of the neighborhood and she loved watching the hummingbirds fly around her feeders.  Georgia loved spending time with and spoiling her children and grandchildren. 

Georgia is survived by her children, Elmer J. “EJ” (Brenda) Sandlin, Emma Sue “Sandy” (Michael) McDowell, Patty “Pat” (Victor) Seibert, Gary M. (Debbie) Sandlin, Marsha (Gerard) Andreas, Joe Sandlin, and a grandson that was raised as a son, Gary Mitchell “Mitch” Jr. (J.J.) Sandlin; grandchildren, Barry Sandlin and Brian Sandlin, Jeff McDowell, Joseph Seibert, Sara Roseberry, Mitch Sandlin, Donna Kelz, Jade Sandlin, Chad Sandlin, Alainia Andreas, Casey Sandlin, Micky Sandlin, Samantha Sandlin, John Seibert, Jake Lantz, and Chris Lantz, along with 22 great-grandchildren; and brother, Monroe “Bill” Francis. 

Georgia was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandchildren, Donald McDowell, and Jesse James Sandlin, and 4 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Jeffrey Yohn; and 5 siblings.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Century Villa Health Care in Greentown for the care and compassion they gave Georgia and her family. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, June 20, 2019, at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main Street, Greentown. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Greentown with Pastor Jason Grant officiating.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11-1 pm Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made in Georgia’s memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.hasler-stout.com.
