Garry Wayne McClanahan, 53, Kokomo, passed away at 8:45 pm Tuesday November 12, 2019, at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born December 24, 1965, the son of the late Ralph & Pauline McClanahan.
Garry graduated in 1984 from TC Williams High School. He served with the United States Army during the Gulf War during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom where he was wounded. As a disabled Veteran, Garry worked as a medical specialist but his favorite job was his last position in life, becoming “Papaw Daycare”. He loved spending time with his significant other, Barbara, granddaughter Brooklyn, his family, and his friends. He loved the Miami Dolphins and the New York Yankees. Garry also enjoyed modifying his automobiles, wood working, along with fixing and repairing things with his hands. He was a member of the American Legion.
Garry is survived by his significant other, Barbara Driver; step-daughter, Brittany Driver; and granddaughter, Brooklyn Driver; life-long friends and brothers, Derek Taft and Darien Columbel.
Garry was preceded in death by his parents; and adopted mother, Delores VanDyke.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday November 17, 2019, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo. Burial will follow in South Union Cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Army. Friends are invited to visit with the family from Noon-2 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
