Eugene E. Graves, 83, of Frostproof, Florida, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at Advent Healthcare in Sebring, Florida. He was born August 18, 1936, in Frankfort, to the late Thomas G. and Dollie (Smelser) Graves. He had been a resident of Florida since moving there from Indiana in 1996.
Eugene was a retired Security Officer for General Motors. He was a volunteer and served as a deacon and long time grounds keeper and maintenance man for the First Baptist Church in Frostproof. He also sang in the choir and was part of the Disaster Relief and Rescue. He served as a volunteer fireman and loved being a farmer, fishing, camping and collecting toy tractors and equipment. He was a wonderful husband and family man.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Dixie (Terhune) Graves; sons, Rex Graves, of Frostproof, Florida, Andrew Graves and wife Tamara, of Nashville, Tennessee, Timothy Graves, of Marion, and Bradley Graves and wife Dana, of San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Jessie Gillam, of Kokomo, and Wilma Smith, of Kokomo; brother, George Graves and wife Lana, of Russiaville; eleven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 20, 2019, Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Rev. Darrol Hood officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
