Eric Alan Cheek

Eric Alan Cheek, 37, Colorado Springs, formerly of Greentown, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 21, 2019.  He was born July 22, 1981, in Kokomo, the son of Bruce Cheek & Jennifer (Taylor) Cheek. 

Eric was a 2000 graduate of Eastern High School and had attended Indiana University.  He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 2002, earning the rank of Sgt. and served overseas in two tours of duty, both in Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Eric had a passion for sports, movies, and history.  Most of all, he was passionate when it came to family and friends.  He lived life to the fullest.  Eric was a member of the American Legion. 

Eric is survived by his father, Bruce Cheek (Robin DeWitt); mother, Jennifer Cheek; brother, Adam (Heidi) Cheek; nieces and nephews, Carter Cheek, Hendrik Cheek, and Ayla Cheek; along with a large loving family of cousins, whom he treasured dearly; aunts and uncles, Gerald (Pam) Cheek, Fred Cheek (Candy Hintzen), Kay Rice, Vickie Ryckman, Penny (Dwight) Stauffer, and Mark Taylor; and grandmother, Martha Freiberger.

Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Eva Cheek, Ron Freiberger, and Jack Taylor.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, March 29, 2019, at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main Street, Greentown, with his brother Adam Cheek officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Marine Corp and the Greentown American Legion. 

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-8 pm Thursday at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home 112 E. Main St. Greentown.
