Elmer L. Martin, 82, Kokomo, passed away at 12:03 pm Tuesday December 3, 2019, at his home. He was born August 5, 1937, in Howard County, the son of the late Basil & Janey (Konk) Martin. On February 25, 1957, he married Madaline Sue Simmons who preceded him in death on December 5, 1981.
Elmer graduated in 1955 from Western High School and then graduated from Ivy Tech Community College. He served with the Indiana National Guard. Elmer retired from Continental Steel after 30 years of service. After retiring, he worked for HH Gregg’s. Elmer enjoyed researching genealogy, and experimenting with new cooking recipes. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially his great-grandchildren.
Elmer is survived by his children, Marcietta Timberman, and Mark (Loretta) Martin; grandchildren, Micah Morley, Steven Mathias Timberman; great-grandchildren, Iliah (Hunter) King, Noeah Morley, Savanna Johnson, Gabriel Isaac Morley, and Susanna Marie Morley; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Martin, and Janet Martin; and brother-in-law, Phil Johnson, along with several nieces and nephews.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Leroy Martin; grandson, Michael Lloyd Morley; great-grandson, Micah Justin Morley Jr.; and siblings, Eugene, Daniel, Max, and James Martin, and Kate Davidson, Agnes Dutrow, Bernadine White, and Sandy Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 7, 2019, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Nate Pyle officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Point Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 12-2 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
