Ella Hellmann, 96, Kokomo, passed away at 9:00 pm Saturday, September 28, 2019, at Kokomo Place in Kokomo. She was born May 5, 1923, in Indianapolis, the daughter of the late Joseph & Rosa (Brezigar) Matkovic. On October 16, 1948, at the Holy Trinity Church in Indianapolis, she married Gilbert Hellmann who survives.
Ella was a 1941 graduate of Washington High School. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Rosary Society, and Eucharistic Minister for the homebound, Migrant Ministries through St. Patrick Church along with Meals on Wheels.
Along with her husband Gilbert, Ella is survived by her children, Michael (Kathy) Hellmann, Rosemarie (Sam) Miller, Stephen (Tori) Hellmann, Richard Hellmann, Edward (Terri) Hellmann, and Jeffrey (Kathy) Hellmann; grandchildren, Timothy (Kelly) Hellmann, Anna Marie Miller, Samantha Miller, Kaela (Artem) Yankov, Jessica (Jesse) Haskett, Kyle Hellmann, Logan Hellmann, Kasie Hellmann, Kayden Hellmann, Kyann Hellmann, and Kourtlyn Hellmann; 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; and 3 sisters.
Ella was preceded in death by her parents; son, Paddy Joe Hellmann; grandson, Gabriel Hellmann; and 1 brother.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11-12 pm Friday, where the Rosary will be offered at Noon October 4, 2019, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1229 N. Washington Street with Mass to follow. Private burial will take place at later time. Memorial contributions may be made in Ella’s memory to the Monastery of the Poor Clares or Bona Vista.
