Dorothy W. “Dody” Pickett, 94, Kokomo, passed away Friday, January 10, 2020. She was born March 16, 1925, in Kokomo, the daughter of the late Gary & Emma (Renshaw) Woods. On October 1, 1977, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, she married D. James Pickett who preceded her in death May 17, 1984.
Dody was a 1942 graduate of Kokomo High School. She retired in 1977 from Continental Steel Corp after 30 years of service as a secretary. Dody was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. In 1975, she started volunteering for St. Joseph Hospital and enjoyed bowling, crocheting, and playing cards.
Dody is survived by her step-daughters, Vicki (Bernard) Grivetti, and Cristi (James) Myers; grandchildren, Brett (Laura) Myers, Mandi (Jeremy) Vander Galien, April Myers, Matthew Grivetti, Cristina (Brandon) Price, and Patrick Grivetti, along with 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Dody was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Jack Woods.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 pm on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1229 N. Washington Street, Kokomo. Burial will follow in Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm Saturday at the church, where the Rosary will be offered at 10:00 am.
