Donna Mohler Obituary

Donna (Bowers) Mohler

July 7, 1946 – February 13, 2019

On Wednesday, February 13, 2019, Donna left this Earth to go to her Heavenly mansion and to reunite with her husband Jim who has been waiting for her the last 32 years.

Donna was the daughter of Roy Thomas and Monnie (Tharp) Bowers who preceded her in death.  The spiritual #7 of the Bible was fitting for Donna who was the seventh of eight children, born on the 7th day of the 7th month, weighing 7 pounds at 7:00 pm.

On November 3, 1965, Donna married Jim Mohler.  They had two daughters, Angela (Don) Sopher, and Regina Bufkin who survive.  Jim, who was a wonderful father, passed away in 1987.

Donna graduated from Kokomo High School in 1964 and went to work at Delco Radio for 33 years before retiring in 1997.  During the time she worked at Delco she also attended Indiana University Kokomo where she received her associate’s degree.  After retirement, Donna worked as a realtor for Lloyd Cheek, Dave Trueblood, and Tom Hayes.

Donna truly had a servant’s heart and was an excellent cook.  Many family members and friends were blessed at Donna’s table.  Donna was also a devout Christian who was active in the First Church of the Nazarene Women’s Ministry, Bible study, and was a cook for the Tuesday night free meals at the church.  Donna was called on many times to pray for friends and family due to her being a prayer warrior to her Lord Jesus Christ.

Donna and Judy Netherton co-founded a ministry called “Feed My Sheep” where she cooked and served delicious meals to the homeless and low income people.  Many people developed a relationship with God through Donna’s servant’s heart.

Besides being a mother who was always there for her daughters, Angie and Gina, she was also a mother to her son-in-law, Don.  She was a wonderful grandmother to her three grandsons, James Wesley, and twins, Blake Logan and Brook Hunter Bufkin.  Donna wasn’t just a “Grandma” to her grandsons; she was also a mentor, and left behind a great spiritual legacy to them.

Those who preceded Donna in death along with her parents and husband were brothers, Ken (Eugene) and Gary Bowers, sister, Drama Dukes, brothers-in-law, John DuPouy and Marshall Dukes.

Survivors, along with her daughters and son-in-law, and her three grandsons are twin sisters, Cora DuPouy and Dora Wesson, sister, Virgie (Richard) Huskins, and brother, Roy (Audrey) Bowers. Donna’s little buddy, her dog Charlie, also survives.

Donna who is celebrating in Heaven wants her family and friends to enjoy a celebration of her life at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at First Church of the Nazarene, 2734 S. Washington Street, Kokomo.  Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 3-7 pm Monday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Donna’s memory to Coordinated Assistance Ministry (C.A.M), 210 N.
