Donna Susan Gossman, 66, a resident of Kokomo, IN, passed away peacefully at home on December 6, 2019. Born in Drexel Hill, PA, on September 3, 1953, Donna was the daughter of the late Robert Dutney and the late Jean Stein Dutney. On July 16, 1977, she married the love of her life, David Gossman, and he survives.
She graduated from Butler University in 1975 with a master’s degree in Elementary Education where she taught at St. Michaels Catholic School from 1976 to 1979 and then was a dedicated fifth grade teacher at Western Intermediate School for 34 years until she retired in 2017. She touched the lives of thousands of students that walked through her classroom each day. When she was not working, she enjoyed traveling with her husband to adventurous locations and to visit family. She was a member of Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church. She also liked scrapbooking, spending time by the pool, and she cherished her time being a “GG” to her four grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, David, Donna is survived by her sons, Kyle (Stephanie) Gossman and Keith Gossman; three sisters, Barbara (Mike) Barschow, Lynn Dutney, and Sally Powers; Angie Mund, the mother of grandchildren Alexander and Corrina Gossman; grandchildren, Lucas and Jackson Gossman, and her devoted caregiver Bailey Wisehart who over the years, became a part of the family.
In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Wagner and Patricia Stowell.
The family would like to thank Dr. Annette Moore and staff with Community Howard Oncology for being such a wonderful group of dedicated health professionals that never stopped fighting cancer with us.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3155 S. 200 W., Kokomo, with Rev. Fr. Sean Pogue the celebrant. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit the family from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo, where a scripture service will be offered at 7:30 p.m.
