Connie L. Byers, 73, Kokomo, passed away at 6:47 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2018, at Aperion Care in Kokomo. She was born January 11, 1945, in Kokomo, to Donald and Bertha (Fulk) Coleman, Sr.
Connie was a 1963 graduate of Kokomo High School. She worked as a bookkeeper and auditor for Kresge’s, the Howard County Parks Department, K-Mart and Hobby Lobby, where she retired from in 2010. She loved racing, especially NASCAR, and was a huge Jeff Gordon fan as well as an Elvis fan. She was very involved with the Izaak Walton League and served as President of the Lakeside Chapter. She also served as State Secretary and a lobbyist and was a member of the Cancer Survivors Group.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Robin) Byers and Michelle (William) Ebert; grandchildren, Nathaniel Ebert, Darius Ebert, Cora Ebert and Alexandra Ebert; siblings, Timothy (Lee) Coleman, Sharon Coleman and Donald (Alyce) Coleman, Jr.; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Charlie.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, Jefferson Street Chapel, 414 W. Jefferson St., Kokomo, with Pastor Joyce Harris officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 3 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
