Chris E. Orem

Chris E. Orem, 70, Kokomo, passed away at 11:40 am Monday October 28, 2019, at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo.  He was born May 6, 1949, in Kokomo, the son of the late James E. & Deloris “Dee Dee” (Brown) Orem.

Chris was a 1967 graduate of Northwestern High School.  He then went on to pursue his heating and cooling training from Allied Trade School in Chicago.  He retired in 2011 from Northwestern High School after 36 years of service with the maintenance department and as a bus driver.  Chris was a member of the Kokomo Jaycees where he served his community and Jaycee family in various local, Region 3, State and National offices.  His greatest accomplishments were the award of US JCI Senatorship #46009, Indiana Jaycee Senate President 2000-2001, Region X JCI Senate National Vice-President 2002-2003 and Supreme Commander of the Hoosier Corps.  He was an avid fisherman and looked forward to all of his many fishing trips over the years with his buddies Jim, Fred, and Scott.

Chris is survived by his children, Meagan Reed, Ansley (Brad) Reeser, and Heather Metz; grandchildren, Jackson Reed, Mackenzie Reed, and Kybree Reeser; sister, Shelley (Dave) Bickel; his feline friends, Barney and Bear; and the mother of his children, Nancy Orem.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Brianne Orem; brother, Richard Orem; and former wife, Peggy Louella Cox Dutton.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm Monday, November 4, 2019, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main Street, Russiaville, with Pastor Jason Grant officiating.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5-7 pm Monday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made in Chris’s memory to the Jaycee’s or the Kokomo Humane Society Cat Café.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.stoutandson.com.
