Betty Louise Bates, 76, Kokomo, passed away at 8:35 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at North Woods Village in Kokomo. She was born April 28, 1942, in Tazewell, Virginia, to William and Mable (White) Stout. On October 26, 1987, she married Frankie Bates, and he survives.
Betty attended Kokomo High School. She enjoyed singing, playing piano and attending bluegrass festivals, but she was happiest when she was surrounded by family. She was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Nancy (Randy) Lunsford and Stacy (Eddie) Houston; step-children, Frankie D. Bates and Shane Bates; grandchildren, Richie Lunsford, Holly Early, Kasey (Malaya) Smith-Corbit, Kayla (Tremayne) Buckner and Kierstan Corbit; several great-grandchildren; and siblings, Truman (Phyllis) Stout, Ella Hamilton, Minnie Reynolds, Jim (Connie) Stout, Dave (Rhonda) Stout, Shirley Laudenschlager and Terry (Patty) Stout.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Emmitt Darrell Corbit; and brothers, Billy and Bobby Stout.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo, with Pastors Bill Fields and Lehmon Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
