Bert Porter Jr.

Bert Porter Jr., 90, Kokomo, went to be with the Lord at 3:07 pm, Tuesday August 20, 2019, at his home.  He was born November 27, 1928, in Kokomo, the son of the late Bert & Garnet (Brumfield) Porter, the oldest of 3 brothers.

After graduating from Kokomo High School in 1947, he served his country as a member of the Army Occupation Forces in post WWII Germany.  Meeting the love of his life at Delco Electronics he married Rose Marie Alder in April of 1952.  During nearly 38 years of employment with Delco he worked and retired as a supervisor in plant security in January of 1993.

In his younger days, he loved to hunt but always enjoyed woodworking, meticulously keeping up his property, and anything outdoors.  For 10 years he had the mower business on the side.  Until a recent illness, he was an active member of Fair Havens Christian Missionary Alliance Church. 

Along with his wife Rose, Bert is survived by his children, Victor (Audrey) Porter, and Sherry (Kevin) McCormack; grandchildren, Adrianne (Fernando) Ochoa, Aaron (Sunshine) Porter, Joshua McCormack, and Caleb McCormack; great-grandchildren, Emily Ochoa, Mateo Ochoa, Nikole Ochoa, Levi Porter, Blaise Porter, Sophia Porter, and Mercy Porter; several precious nieces and nephews, and a very special, newly found niece, Lisa Floyd.

Bert was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Jim and Gordon.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, August 24, 2019, at Fair Havens Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 1216 S. 300 W., Russiaville, with Pastor John Zwirn officiating.  Burial will follow in Russiaville Cemetery.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1-3 pm Saturday at the church.  Stout & Son Funeral Home were entrusted with arrangements.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.stoutandson.com.
