Barbara Vandevender Obituary

Barbara Ann Vandevender, 60, Kokomo, passed away at 12:40 pm, Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Northwoods Village in Kokomo.  She was born May 29, 1957, in Kokomo, the daughter of the late Lockert Jr., & Juanita (Esparza) Coleman.  On December 17, 1993, she married Noel Vandevender, who preceded her in death on May 25, 2001.

Barbara was a 1975 graduate of Haworth High School.  She was a homemaker who enjoyed selling Avon in her spare time.  Barbara attended St. Patrick Catholic Church and Bible Baptist Church.  She was also a radio D.J. and loved pop music, and bowling. 

Barbara is survived by her brother, Anthony Coleman, Oakland, CA; half-sister, Lockeeta Anthony, Atlanta, GA; nephew, Ramon Reece, Indianapolis; niece, Daphne Reece, Indianpolis; special cousin, Jesse Hillman, Kokomo; God mother, Christine Ying, Kokomo, along with several great-nieces and nephews.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sibilings, Laverne Wallace, and Lockert Coleman III; maternal grandparents, Christine Cato, and Richard Esparza; paternal grandparents, Alberta and Lockert Coleman Sr.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2018, at Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery, 1300 E. North St., Kokomo, with Chaplain Larry Phillips officiating.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com.  Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
