Nancy J. (Johnson) Echelbarger

Nancy J. Echelbarger, 84, Greentown, went to be with the Lord at 12:56 pm Friday, April 12, 2024 from her home.  She was born August 12, 1939 in Kokomo, the daughter of Clyde & Tressie (McClain) Johnson.  On December 1, 1957 at the Sycamore Friends Church she married James Conde Echelbarger, who preceded her in death February 4, 2016.

Nancy was a 1957 graduate of Eastern High School.  She had served as Head Teller and Assistant Manager at the State Bank of Greentown. 

She was a member of Fairfield Christian Church and had served as Secretary of the Greentown Historical Society.  Nancy enjoyed spending time with ladies of her card club.  She was an avid sports fan.  She especially enjoyed following IU Basketball and the Indianapolis Colts.  She also was her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s biggest fans and attended as many of their sporting events as she could.

Nancy is survived by her sons, Conde (Lori) Echelbarger, Brian (Michelle) Echelbarger; grandchildren, Kristen Echelbarger, Brianne (Jesse) Vance, Tyler (Annie) Echelbarger, Brandon (Bree) Echelbarger, Megan Gifford, Rachel Echelbarger, Chad Gifford, Bret Echelbarger, Brayden Echelbarger; six great grandchildren; one great great grandson; her sister-in-law, Cathy Johnson and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; stepmother, Lilith Johnson; children, Lisa Kay Echelbarger, Bret Allen Echelbarger; siblings, Wayne Johnson, Joan Hullinger, Beverly Keith, Charles Johnson, Von Johnson.

A funeral service celebrating Nancy’s life will be held at 1 pm Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main Street, Greentown, with Pastor Lynn Coleman officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 am until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Fairfield Christian Church.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.hasler-stout.com.
