Ethel Charlene Maxwell, 87, Kokomo, died at 8:43 p.m., Saturday, July 24, 2010, at her residence.

She was born July 2, 1923 in Sharp County, Ark., to Jeff and Vida (Diceton) Jones.

She was married to McCoy Maxwell, Dec. 25, 1941, and he preceded her in death Aug. 2, 1990.

She retired after 22 years from Delco Electronics. She had also taught school in an one-room school house all eight grades and was a homemaker.

She graduated from high school in Arkansas.

She was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where she was the church organist and Sunday school teacher for over 60 years.

Her hobbies and Interests included oil and water painting, sewing, reading, gardening and she loved music.

Survivors include children, Bonnie (Ralph) Stone, Kokomo, Wayne (Gloria) Maxwell, Russiaville, Paula Alter, Windfall; daughter-in-law, Patricia Maxwell, Kokomo; one brother, Scott (Deanna) Jones, Smithville, Ark.; three sisters, Buhton Jones, Charlotte, Ark., Robie (Kenneth) Hash, Poughkeepsie, Ark., and Jane (Bob) Swango, Anderson; 10 grandchildren, Greg Stone, Gina Thomas, John Maxwell, Jeff Maxwell, James Maxwell, Anne Neisus, Clinton Maxwell, Tonya Hall, Joshua Alter, Rachel Cox; 14 great grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Johnny Maxwell; an infant daughter, Cathy Sue Maxwell; one brother, George Jones; an infant brother, Wayman Jones; and a sister, Jeffie Farmer.

Services are 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Shirley and Stout Funeral Home Lincoln Road Chapel 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo. Officiant will be Reverend Tim Apt.

Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
