Barry G. Bogucki, 56, Kokomo, a former resident of Hammond, IN, died at 12:57 pm Saturday July 24, 2010 at the Heart Center in Indianapolis. He was born March 7, 1954, in Hammond, IN, the son of Raymond and Bette (Spencer) Bogucki. February 1, 1973, he married Sheila A. Powers at the Southside Christian Church in Hammond, and she survives.

Barry was a 1972 graduate of Gavit High School in Hammond and had taken college courses at Purdue Univ. Extension, also in Hammond. He retired from Inland Steel Corp. as a chemist after 30 years of service. He was a supporter of the Sons of Silence and a former member of the Westville Lions Club. He was the proud owner of a Harley Motorcycle and enjoyed riding at every opportunity. He was an eclectic collector of various items including John Deere collectibles. He was known as the ultimate unifier when it came to friends and family. His life was centered on “his girls”.

He is survived by his wife of 37 ½ years, Sheila; his daughter Shannon Richards and her husband Bob of Russiaville, formerly of Lafayette; one granddaughter, Jillian Richards; three brothers, Ray Bogucki and his wife Stephanie, James Bogucki, all of Kentucky and Thomas Bogucki and his wife Nancy of Wisconsin; three sisters, Patricia Grabelle and her husband Jerry of Indiana, Mary Beth Nightengale and her husband Danny, and Victoria Perry and her husband Mark, all of Oklahoma; his mother-in-law, Alice Louderback of Indiana, and a brother-in-law, Jerry Powers and his wife Thyra of Colorado.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Shirley and Stout Funeral Home, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, Indiana, where the family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday. Pastor Kevin Smith will officiate and burial will follow the service with a farewell ride, biker-style. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with final expenses.
