Douglas A. Bedwell, 56, Greentown, went to be with the Lord at 4:59 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010 at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born March 3, 1954 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of James A. Bedwell III and Helen D. (Cooley) Bedwell. On July 30, 1977 at Zion Lutheran Church, Hartford City, he married Margo A. Walker, who preceded him in death on October 2, 2007.
Doug was a 1972 graduate of Blackford High School, Hartford City and a 1976 graduate of Purdue University with a degree in engineering. After graduating from Purdue, he worked at Chrysler Corp. and then went on to work at Delphi Electronics where he retired in December 2007 after 28 years of service. He was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer and Moose Lodge in Hartford City. He enjoyed watching dirt track racing.
Doug is survived by one son, Kyle Bedwell and his wife Annie and their daughter Teagan all of Greentown; one daughter, Ann Bedwell and her fiancé Austin Deardorff of Greentown; parents, James and Helen Bedwell III of Hartford City; one brother, James Bedwell IV and his wife Connie of Columbia City; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Betty Walker of Hartford City; brother-in-law, Fred Walker and his wife Linda of Hartford City; sister-in-law, Brenda Kearns and her husband John of Muncie; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margo.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2010 at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 705 Southway Boulevard East, Kokomo, with Pastor William Allison officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Hartford City. Friends may call at the church from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, with envelopes available. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, Kokomo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
