John Scott Peterson, 44, Fairmount, died Monday, July 12, 2010. He was born December 29, 1965 in Martinsville, the son of Donald Ray and Evelyn Marie (Markham) Peterson. On August 29, 1997, he married Sherry Hileman, who survives.
Scott was a 1985 graduate of Eastern High School. He was an Army Veteran, serving from July 10, 1985 to June 5, 1987. He had worked as an operating engineer for Getrag and also Chrysler Corp. He was a member of the Steelworkers UAW Local 103. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, working on cars, building things and spending time with his family especially his children.
In addition to his wife Sherry, Scott is survived by three children, Jeremy Scott Peterson of Sharpsville, Janelle Sheyenne Peterson and Jennifer Sherice Peterson, both of Fairmount; mother, Evelyn Peterson of Kokomo; sisters, Donna Lynn Peterson of Kokomo, Melinda Jo Shoulders of Martinsville; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2010 at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 West Lincoln Road, with Pastor Steve Sherwood officiating.
