Waneta Louise (Short) Gray, 83, Cutler, flew home to be with the Lord at 4 a.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010, from Mesa, Ariz.

She was born July 4, 1926, in Frankfort, the daughter of Paul and Roberta (Miller) Short.

She married Gilbert Gray on Nov. 17, 1944, and he survives.

She graduated from Rossville High School in 1944. She was a homemaker and worked as a secretary for Sayco Co. in Flora and also was a farm wife.

She was a member of the Eastern Star and was Worthy Matron for four years. She enjoyed traveling and many crafts and hobbies.

Survivors include her husband, Gilbert Gray, Cutler. She was a loving mother of three children, Deb Dance and husband Jim, Mac Gray and wife Jan, and Cindi Mast and husband Max, all of Cutler; a doting grandma to seven grandchildren, Calin Gray, Cutler, Kelly Gray, Cutler, Kari Gray, Indianapolis, Kyle Hamilton and wife Carrie, Flora, Kevin Hamilton, Indianapolis, Karly Wiles, Greenwood, and Kinsey Price, Lafayette; four step grandchildren Jeremy Mast, Indianapolis, Josh Mast, Kokomo, Medea Cook, Mississippi, and Mariah Dance, Greentown; eight great-grandchildren, Ty Gray, Cutler, Garrett Cook, Gavin Cook and Gaden Cook, all of Mississippi; and Madison Dance, Logan Soderlund and Lucia Soderlund, all of Greentown. A sister, Maxine Barnard of Ft. Myers, Fla., also survives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jack Short and Joe Short.

Services are 2 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, Neptune Chapel, 44 Michigan St., Burlington, with Pastor Dan Butcher officiating. Burial will be in Ball Hill Cemetery, Cutler. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Relay For Life (the Animals Team #29) or Crossroads Christian Community Church, Bringhurst. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
