Marcia M. Needler, 73, Kokomo, went to be with the Lord with her family and friends surrounding her at 10:05 a.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010 at her home. She was born November 8, 1936 in Frankfort, the daughter of Raymond and Hallie (Braun) Salmon. On May 4, 1958 in Frankfort, she married K. Darrell Needler, who preceded her in death on September 25, 2008.
Marcia was a 1955 graduate of Rossville High School. She worked for Sears Roebuck in Frankfort for 20 years and was a teacher’s aide at Taylor Elementary for 15 years. She was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church where she was treasurer and played the organ. She was active in the Ladies Aide Society at the church. She was a member of Delta Gamma Delta Sorority. She enjoyed going to garage sales and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Marcia is survived by her son, Brett D. Needler and his wife Terry; daughter, Myra A. Pointer and her husband William, all of Kokomo; granddaughter, Brooke A. Whitefield. She especially enjoyed spending time with her great-grandson Travis Whitefield Pointer and her six granddogs, especially Newman. Also surviving is one sister, Patricia Beutler and her husband Willis of Lafayette; two brothers, Steve Salmon and his wife Diane of Frankfort, James Salmon and his wife Linda of Nashville, Indiana; one sister-in-law, Doris Salmon of Lafayette; 12 nieces and nephews; special friends and caregivers, Lisa Carr, Erin Nowak, Vickie England, and Connie Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Weyman Salmon.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 West Lincoln Road, with Pastor Steve Gollner officiating. Burial will follow in Matthews Cemetery, Matthews, Indiana. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
