Nathaniel C. Lauderbaugh, 84, Kokomo, died at 5:15 a.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Northwoods Commons.

He was born July 29, 1925, in Kokomo, the son of John Samuel “Sam” and Florence Inez (Pavey) Lauderbaugh.

On May 3, 1947, he married Barbara Lee Ellabarger, who preceded him in death Nov. 6, 1999.

Nathaniel attended Kokomo High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He was employed as a machine operator at Chrysler Corp. for 30 years, retiring in 1986.

He was a member of Northview Christian Church and United Auto Workers Local 685. He was an avid Indiana University, Pacers, Cubs and Bears fan.

Survivors include his three children, Thomas J. Lauderbaugh, Kokomo, David Lauderbaugh and wife Judy, Kokomo, and LeeAnne Lauderbaugh, Whitefish, Mont.; six grandchildren, Nicole Parkhurst and husband Russell, Kokomo, Nathan Lauderbaugh and wife Ashley, Kokomo, Jennifer Gray and husband Josh, Centerville, Va., Aaron Lauderbaugh, Kokomo, Kira Lauderbaugh, Kokomo, Jason Blackwell, Kokomo; three great-grandchildren, Kynzie Shane, Chris Parkhurst and Kayla Parkhurst, and a great-granddaughter expected later in the spring, Kendall; one brother, John Lauderbaugh, Lorelei, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Lauderbaugh; one grandson, Joshua Lauderbaugh; four brothers, Harold Lauderbaugh, Bob Lauderbaugh, Charles “Chub” Lauderbaugh and an infant brother; and one sister, Jean Brothers.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kokomo Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
