Lonnie Earnest Greenwood Sr., 77, Frankfort, a former Kokomo resident, went to be with his Savior at 7:10 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2010 in the Emergency Room at Florida Hospital – Waterman, Tavares, Florida. He was born August 1, 1932 in Greenland, Arkansas, the son of Donald and Ethel (Foster) Greenwood.
Lonnie retired from Delco Electronics after 28 years of service. He was an Army veteran serving from 1952-1954. In 1993 he had been a barber at Johnson’s Barber Shop. He was an avid fisherman and hunter respectively and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Pembroke Pines, Florida.
Lonnie is survived by his children, Louise Skiba and her husband Ron of Cleveland, Ohio, Glenn Greenwood and his wife Julie of Kokomo, Joyce Trueblood of Bunker Hill, Debra Greenwood of Indianapolis, Danette Viso and her fiancé Alex Primo of Pembroke Pines, Florida, Patti Wells and her husband Emmett of Little Rock, Arkansas, Lonnie E. Greenwood II of Bunker Hill, Darcey Jackson of Frankfort, Robert Greenwood of Indianapolis, Linda McDaniel of Sharpsville; 20 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Clifford Burns, John Gump. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Alberta Burns and Martha Gump.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Lonnie will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Crossroads Community Church, Hwy 26 & U.S. 31, with Rev. Kevin Smith officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.
