Micheline Gault, “Momma Micheline,” 50, Kokomo, was called to heaven early Tuesday morning, March 2, 2010, at her home in Kokomo.

She was born Aug. 5, 1959, in Cap-Haitien, Haiti, to Marilla and Silfraise Joseph.

At the age of 5, she was adopted by Marie Johns. Marie knew a woman by the name of Lodie Vaughn who was a missionary at Second Baptist Church. She was responsible for transporting Micheline from Haiti to America in 1964. Later Micheline was raised by Birdie Phelps.

On July 8, 2000, she married David Gault in Weaver, Ind. He survives.

Micheline was raised with the Second Baptist Church Family where she was a longtime member. She had also attended Hills Chapel of Weaver, Ind. Presently Micheline was an attending member of Judson Road Baptist Church.

She was an active member of Narcotics Anonymous. Micheline recently celebrated nine proud years of recovery. At Crossroads area of Narcotics Anonymous, she served as the Area Convention Service Representative. In the program, she sponsored several woman (and some men) in recovery. Micheline carried the message, that in recovery, you achieve Freedom from Active Addiction. Also, people in the recovery program were responsible for her nickname of “Momma Micheline.”

When she was not busy helping others, Micheline enjoyed interior decorating. Also, she had worked in retail and at St. Joseph Hospital.

Along with her husband, David, she is survived by her birth mother, Marilla Joseph, Haiti; her mother-in-law, Clara Gault; Aunt Jackie Webb; brothers Tramaine Buckner and Dewayne Johns; and sister Carissa Johns, all of Kokomo. Also surviving is Pastor Ron and Carmel Adams, Waukegan, Ill., and her beloved pet Shay Shay.

The Fields, Douglas, Thomas and Gault families all loved and thought of Micheline as a sister, an aunt and a daughter.

She will be dearly missed and celebrated. Most of all, Micheline has achieved the infinity token. By this she is clean and serene forever.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday March 6, 2010, at Shirley and Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo. Burial rites will follow in the Historic Estates of Serenity Cemetery, Marion. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
