Roger D. Bowlin, 47, Kokomo, went home to be with the Lord at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Howard Regional Health System, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

A memorial service celebrating Roger’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown, with Pastor Ed Joyner officiating. Friends are invited to call one hour prior to the service.

Shawna Renee Noble

Shawna Renee Noble, 18, died at 12:30 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2010, in the emergency room at St. Joseph Hospital.

She was born May 4, 1991, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Jon P. and Tammy L. (Lamberson) Noble.

Fighting and struggling with many surgeries and procedures accompanied with cerebral palsy, Shawna lived most of her life at home surrounded by those who loved her and by professionals who provided extra special care. She loved keeping us on our toes, wrestling with us and then laughing about it. She enjoyed listening to music, especially country, and watching movies on her DVD player. She especially enjoyed her “Fraggle Rock” DVDs. She was loved by many people, and her smile would make our day. When she laughed, we cried with joy, and when she cried, we cried with her. She was a true fighter, braving all the elements in her life. She was our shining light and our angel on earth, and will forever be missed.

She is survived by her mother and father; two brothers, Jonathan Noble and Jacob Noble, all of Kokomo; one sister, Sally Alexandria Livingston, California; grandfather, John H. Carver; uncle and aunt, Doug and Debbie Rosenbush, all of Bringhurst; and aunt, Michal D. Noble, Kokomo. She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Janice Holt and Ellen Carver; and grandfather, Cecil D. Lamberson.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2010, at Shirley and Stout Funeral Home, Jefferson Street Chapel, 414 W. Jefferson St. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until service time.

Juanita L. Goranson

Juanita L. Goranson, 93, Kokomo, died at 7:47 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010 at St. Joseph Hospital. She was born October 5, 1916 in the daughter of Thomas “John” and Linnie (Crosier) Boyer. In April 23, 1935 in Whiting, Indiana, she married Charles Vernon Goranson, who preceded her in death on December 17, 1978.

Juanita was a graduate of Whiting High School. As a sales rep. for WIOU, she was the first woman to sell radio advertising in the state of Indiana. She was district deputy for the Independent Order of Foresters, retiring in 1995. She was honored by Sagamore for being a Woman Pioneer for her work and fundraising for cancer research. She was a volunteer at the Cheer Guild was a member of Phi Beta Psi Sorority, Daughters of the American Revolution, and was a Girl Scout Troop Leader. She was a member of “VASA”, a Scandinavian organization of the United States, Canada and Sweden.

Juanita is survived by her son, Dean Goranson of Kokomo; daughter, Carol Atherton of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, J.D. Delaplane of Tucson, Arizona, Kristin Coryell and her husband Bruce of Indianapolis; two great-granddaughters, Ashley Coryell and Kristen Haralson; great-great-granddaughter, Bella Haralson; two nieces, Judy Fudenski and Annette Bean. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Jeanine A. Delaplane; son-in-law, John C. Atherton; sister, Violet Boyer Fudenski; brother-in-law, Charles Carter Fudenski.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 West Lincoln Road, with Rev. Glen Clarkson officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. on Friday. Marcia M. Needler, 73, Kokomo, went to be with the Lord with her family and friends surrounding her at 10:05 a.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010 at her home. She was born November 8, 1936 in Frankfort, the daughter of Raymond and Hallie (Braun) Salmon. On May 4, 1958 in Frankfort, she married K. Darrell Needler, who preceded her in death on September 25, 2008.

Marcia was a 1955 graduate of Rossville High School. She worked for Sears Roebuck in Frankfort for 20 years and was a teacher’s aide at Taylor Elementary for 15 years. She was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church where she was treasurer and played the organ. She was active in the Ladies Aide Society at the church. She was a member of Delta Gamma Delta Sorority. She enjoyed going to garage sales and spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Marcia is survived by her son, Brett D. Needler and his wife Terry; daughter, Myra A. Pointer and her husband William, all of Kokomo; granddaughter, Brooke A. Whitefield. She especially enjoyed spending time with her great-grandson Travis Whitefield Pointer and her six granddogs, especially Newman. Also surviving is one sister, Patricia Beutler and her husband Willis of Lafayette; two brothers, Steve Salmon and his wife Diane of Frankfort, James Salmon and his wife Linda of Nashville, Indiana; one sister-in-law, Doris Salmon of Lafayette; 12 nieces and nephews; special friends and caregivers, Lisa Carr, Erin Nowak, Vickie England, and Connie Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Weyman Salmon.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 West Lincoln Road, with Pastor Steve Gollner officiating. Nathaniel C. Lauderbaugh

Nathaniel C. Lauderbaugh, 84, Kokomo, died at 5:15 a.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Northwoods Commons.

He was born July 29, 1925, in Kokomo, the son of John Samuel “Sam” and Florence Inez (Pavey) Lauderbaugh.

On May 3, 1947, he married Barbara Lee Ellabarger, who preceded him in death Nov. 6, 1999.

Nathaniel attended Kokomo High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He was employed as a machine operator at Chrysler Corp. for 30 years, retiring in 1986.

He was a member of Northview Christian Church and United Auto Workers Local 685. He was an avid Indiana University, Pacers, Cubs and Bears fan.

Survivors include his three children, Thomas J. Lauderbaugh, Kokomo, David Lauderbaugh and wife Judy, Kokomo, and LeeAnne Lauderbaugh, Whitefish, Mont.; six grandchildren, Nicole Parkhurst and husband Russell, Kokomo, Nathan Lauderbaugh and wife Ashley, Kokomo, Jennifer Gray and husband Josh, Centerville, Va., Aaron Lauderbaugh, Kokomo, Kira Lauderbaugh, Kokomo, Jason Blackwell, Kokomo; three great-grandchildren, Kynzie Shane, Chris Parkhurst and Kayla Parkhurst, and a great-granddaughter expected later in the spring, Kendall; one brother, John Lauderbaugh, Lorelei, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Lauderbaugh; one grandson, Joshua Lauderbaugh; four brothers, Harold Lauderbaugh, Bob Lauderbaugh, Charles “Chub” Lauderbaugh and an infant brother; and one sister, Jean Brothers.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Helen I. Spraker, 91, Kokomo, died 5:35 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2010, at Howard Regional Health System in Kokomo.

She was born March 2, 1919, near Bunker Hill, to Oscar and Mary (Phillapy) Shroyer.

She married Lowell E. Spraker on Nov. 26, 1944, and he survives.

She graduated from Kokomo High School in 1937. She also attended a junior college in Evanston, Ill.

She was a homemaker and for several years taught kindergarten at First Presbyterian Church. She was also was a doctor’s assistant for Dr. Connelly, going out with him on home deliveries.

She was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and had been a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She was a member of United Methodist Women, Ruth Circle, Church Women United and a former member of Order of the Eastern Star.

She loved to cook, sew, paint watercolors and arts and crafts.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lowell E. Spraker, Kokomo; one daughter, Julie Sims, Kokomo; one step-grandson, William Sims; and several loving and caring nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Margaret Bentle and Jane Foreman.

Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 5741 W. 100 North, Kokomo. The Rev. Bud Probasco will officiate. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery. Friends and family may call 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church in the fellowship hall.

Richard Lee Sanders

Richard Lee “Dick” Sanders, 76, Galveston, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 4, 2010, wrapped in the arms of his loving wife, Patty and his family close by. He was born December 21, 1933 in Kokomo, the son of Theodore Sanders and Mildred (Davis) Smith and raised by Leonard Jude Smith. On May 11, 2002 he married Patty Manning, who survives.

Richard was a 1952 graduate of Kokomo High School and was a loyal Indiana University fan. He retired from General Motors after 37 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1955 – 1956. He was an avid golfer, loved playing 10 card with his many close friends and enjoyed his Friday Morning Breakfast club. He served as Commander at the local American Legion Post 6 from 1991-1994 and Trustee for six years. He was honored as a Life Member in 1998 and was one of four remaining life members.

Surviving in addition to his wife is his son, Steven Sanders and his wife Marsha of Kokomo; two daughters, Susan Bartrum of Kokomo, Cindy Downs of Dallas, Texas. He loved and enjoyed his step-daughter, Kim Erickson and her husband Craig of Denver, Colorado. He especially enjoyed his relationship with his step-son, Jon Pate of Galveston. Also surviving are three adopted children from a previous marriage, Ranae Moody, Steven Sanders DDS, Ron Sanders; grandchildren, Amy Ropes of Kokomo, Rachel Bartrum of Kokomo, Brett Downs of Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, Nolan Sanders of Kokomo, Cameron Sanders of Kokomo; step- grandchildren, Jack Erickson of Denver, Colorado, Sidney Pate of Galveston; and one aunt, JoAnn David Wilson and her family.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother and step-father.

Please join the family on Saturday, March 6, 2010 from 2-6 p.m. at the American Legion Post 6, 2604 South Lafountain Street to celebrate Richard’s life. Military rites will be performed at 2:00 p.m. by the VFW Military Rites Team, followed by Pastor Greg Reed officiating. Mildred D. Smith

Mildred D. Smith, 90, Kokomo, formerly of Martinsville, passed away at 3:43 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Waterford Place Health Campus. Mildred was born in Morgan County to Fred H. and Opal (Wheeler) Dow on August 2, 1919. They are deceased. She married Jay Marsh Smith in 1940. Jay preceded her in death in 1989.

She was a graduate of Paragon High School and Indiana University. Mildred taught elementary school in Morgan County for 30 years.

A lifetime member of the Paragon Christian Church, Mildred appreciated the comfort given by Grace United Methodist Church, especially the visits with Pastor Larry Newburg. She also appreciated the comfort and care given to her at Waterford Place and through Guardian Angel Hospice.

Surviving is a daughter, Sue (Larry) Murrell of Kokomo; a son, Robert Smith of Indianapolis; a daughter, Bonnie (Jim) Tackett of Naples, Florida; six grandchildren, Melissa (Mike) Copher, Marc (Lori) Murrell, Matt (Sarah) Smith, Preston Smith, Scott (Adrienne) Tackett Alissa Tackett; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean (Eugene) Venne of Greenfield; a sister-in-law, Rosie (Charles) Dow of Indianapolis.

Lonnie Earnest Greenwood Sr.

Lonnie Earnest Greenwood Sr., 77, Frankfort, a former Kokomo resident, went to be with his Savior at 7:10 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2010 in the Emergency Room at Florida Hospital – Waterman, Tavares, Florida. He was born August 1, 1932 in Greenland, Arkansas, the son of Donald and Ethel (Foster) Greenwood.

Lonnie retired from Delco Electronics after 28 years of service. He was an Army veteran serving from 1952-1954. In 1993 he had been a barber at Johnson’s Barber Shop. He was an avid fisherman and hunter respectively and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Pembroke Pines, Florida.

Lonnie is survived by his children, Louise Skiba and her husband Ron of Cleveland, Ohio, Glenn Greenwood and his wife Julie of Kokomo, Joyce Trueblood of Bunker Hill, Debra Greenwood of Indianapolis, Danette Viso and her fiancé Alex Primo of Pembroke Pines, Florida, Patti Wells and her husband Emmett of Little Rock, Arkansas, Lonnie E. Greenwood II of Bunker Hill, Darcey Jackson of Frankfort, Robert Greenwood of Indianapolis, Linda McDaniel of Sharpsville; 20 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Clifford Burns, John Gump. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Alberta Burns and Martha Gump.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Lonnie will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Crossroads Community Church, Hwy 26 & U.S. 31, with Rev. Kevin Smith officiating. Micheline Gault

Micheline Gault, “Momma Micheline,” 50, Kokomo, was called to heaven early Tuesday morning, March 2, 2010, at her home in Kokomo.

She was born Aug. 5, 1959, in Cap-Haitien, Haiti, to Marilla and Silfraise Joseph.

At the age of 5, she was adopted by Marie Johns. Marie knew a woman by the name of Lodie Vaughn who was a missionary at Second Baptist Church. She was responsible for transporting Micheline from Haiti to America in 1964. Later Micheline was raised by Birdie Phelps.

On July 8, 2000, she married David Gault in Weaver, Ind. He survives.

Micheline was raised with the Second Baptist Church Family where she was a longtime member. She had also attended Hills Chapel of Weaver, Ind. Presently Micheline was an attending member of Judson Road Baptist Church.

She was an active member of Narcotics Anonymous. Micheline recently celebrated nine proud years of recovery. At Crossroads area of Narcotics Anonymous, she served as the Area Convention Service Representative. In the program, she sponsored several woman (and some men) in recovery. Micheline carried the message, that in recovery, you achieve Freedom from Active Addiction. Also, people in the recovery program were responsible for her nickname of “Momma Micheline.”

When she was not busy helping others, Micheline enjoyed interior decorating. Also, she had worked in retail and at St. Joseph Hospital.

Along with her husband, David, she is survived by her birth mother, Marilla Joseph, Haiti; her mother-in-law, Clara Gault; Aunt Jackie Webb; brothers Tramaine Buckner and Dewayne Johns; and sister Carissa Johns, all of Kokomo. Also surviving is Pastor Ron and Carmel Adams, Waukegan, Ill., and her beloved pet Shay Shay.

The Fields, Douglas, Thomas and Gault families all loved and thought of Micheline as a sister, an aunt and a daughter.

She will be dearly missed and celebrated. Most of all, Micheline has achieved the infinity token. By this she is clean and serene forever.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday March 6, 2010, at Shirley and Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo. Burial rites will follow in the Historic Estates of Serenity Cemetery, Marion. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
