Robert Kirkpatrick

Robert “Bob” Kirkpatrick, 83, Greentown passed away 1:50 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at Century Villa Health Care, Greentown. He was born March 7, 1925, in Howard County to Paul J. and Trela (Trowbridge) Kirkpatrick. On Feb. 25, 1948, in Indianapolis, he married Wilda Ruth (Gentis) Kirkpatrick and she survives.
He was a graduate of Union Township High School 1943. He was a farmer all of his life and especially enjoyed farming with his family.
Bob served in the United States Army during World War II from February 1945 to November 1946, where he received a good conduct medal, and a World War II victory medal.
He was a member of the former Antioch Christian Church. He attended First United Methodist Church at Greentown and Manatee United Methodist Church in Bradenton, Fla. He was a member of American Legion Post 317 of Greentown, Swayzee Masonic Lodge, Indiana Farmer Bureau, Greentown Lions Club, where he was a past fair chairman, and currently co-chairman of Space and Tent Committee. He received the W.P. Woods Fellowship Award in 2005. He was a past member of Eastern School Board, where he served from 1968 to 1972.
He loved running the backhoe and excavator. As part of the family farming, it was important to be good stewards of the soil. Community service and the care of all area citizens was also very important to him.
He is survived by his wife, Wilda Kirkpatrick, Greentown; a son, Bryan (Susan) Kirkpatrick, Greentown, and their children the Rev. Laura (Daniel) Kirkpatrick-McMasters, Pulaski, Tenn., Andrea (Kevin) Breisch, Kokomo, and Jenna Kirkpatrick, Indianapolis; a daughter, Janet (Stan) Middlesworth, Greentown, and their children Kevin (Karen) Middlesworth, Oviedo, Fla., and Brooke Middlesworth, Muncie; four nephews, Bill Kirkpatrick, Jim Kirkpatrick, Phil Gentis and Gene Gentis; and one niece, Ruth Livezey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three grandchildren, Shawna Middlesworth, Amber Middlesworth and Matthew J. Kirkpatrick; one brother, Willis Kirkpatrick; and a sister, Ethel Livezey.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday, August 21, 2008 at First United Methodist Church, 127 S. Meridian St., Greentown, with the Rev Michael Goodspeed, the Rev. Laura Kirkpatrick-McMasters and Kevin Middlesworth officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery at Greentown with military rites by American Legion Post 317. Calling will be 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church followed by a Masonic service at 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund for the New First United Methodist Church.
Hazel M. (Burris) Coy

Hazel M. (Burris) Coy, 95, Weslaco,Texas, formerly of Kokomo, went to be with her Lord at 9:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at Weslaco Rehab & Nursing Home. She was born Feb. 20, 1913, in Ervin Township in Howard County, to Murt and Nellie (Davis) Burris. On May 4,1932, she married Simeon J. Coy. They celebrated their 50th anniversary with a renewal of vows at Howard Brethren Church in 1982. He passed away on Feb. 16,1987.
She graduated from Young America High School in 1932. She was a farm wife, working on the Coy Farms in Ervin Township.
Hazel was a member of the Church of the Brethren and later attended Judson Baptist Church in the summer months and Nazarene church in Weslaco, Texas, in the winter. She spent the winter months with her daughter in Donna, Texas, and the summers at her home in Ervin Township for several years. She was a member of Christian Womens group, Homemaker’s Club, donated many quilts to We Care and worked with several benevolent groups in Kokomo. She had also been a member of the Eastern Star for many years.
She is survived by one son, Donald M. Coy (Ruth), Logansport; a daughter, Joan Bowen, Donna, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Stout & Son Funeral Home, Neptune Chapel, 44 Michigan St., Burlington, with the Rev. Gary Britton officiating. Burial will follow in South Union Cemetery in Howard County. Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Gabriel Albert Lupini

Gabriel Albert “Gabe” Lupini, 15, Kokomo, died Friday evening, August 15, 2008 at his home. He was born January 26, 1993 in Kokomo, the son of Christopher A. and Carrie (Toler)Lupini.
Gabe was a sophomore at Northwestern High School. He had been a member of Boy Scout Troop 508. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church where he had served as a Guardian of the Sacred Mysteries. He enjoyed playing guitar, camping, model rocketry and was most happy when enjoying God’s creations in the out-of-doors.
Surviving in addition to his parents of Kokomo are two sisters, Olivia Maria Lupini, Lana Lupini; two brothers, Nicholas Lupini, and Joseph Lupini, all at home; the paternal grandparents, Albert D. and Cynthia G. Lupini of Highland, Michigan; the maternal grandparents, Melissa and David Butler of Holly, Michigan, and James Toler of Rochester Hills, Michigan; two uncles, John and Jill Lupini, Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Gary and Cathy Lupini of Howell, Michigan; two aunts, Dana and David Hughes of Flint, Michigan, and Donna Butler of Waterford, Michigan; several cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Anthony Lupini and an uncle, Nolan Toler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Kokomo, with Rev. Father Theodore Dudzinski the celebrant. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends may call at St. Patrick’s Church from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday where a Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. The family will also receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time for the Funeral Mass on Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions in Gabe’s name may be made to the Building Fund of St. Patrick’s Church 320 W. Broadway, Kokomo, IN 46901. Envelopes will be available at the church. Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes is assisting the family with the arrangements.
