Eleanor Ann Sands, 84, Kokomo, passed away at 1:53 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Community Howard Regional Health. She was born May 6, 1933 in Greentown, IN to Everett and Ruby (DeWitt) Carlile. On April 23, 1956 she married Herbert L. Sands who preceded her in death on November 21, 2016.

Eleanor was a loving homemaker who enjoyed cooking and baking as well as tending a garden. Most of all she cherished time spent with her family.   

Eleanor is survived by four children, Rick (Jackie) Carlile, Roger Sands, Brenda Sands and Ronda (Ronald) Tedder; eight grandchildren, Brett (Peggy) Carlile, Travis Carlile (Bobbi Thompson), Matt (Tara) Carlile, Heather Sands, Amy (Darren) Longenecker, Billy (Amy) Lytle, Carrie Lytle (Eric Zeman) and Jessica (Shane) Kuefner; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Chelsea Davenport, Veva Vaughn, and Ruby (Lawrence) Hudson; as well as several nieces and nephews; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert (Fontella) Sands, Josephine Nicely, Roy Burchell, and Evelyn Sands. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, and 5 brothers.

Funeral services will be at Noon Tuesday January 9, 2018 at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 West Lincoln Road with John Piotrowicz officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends may Visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until Noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
