Jody Diane Sutherland Cromas, passed away at 2:16 am on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at Marion General Hospital in Marion.  She was born June 17, 1969, in Marion, the daughter of Cathy Stewart and Paul Sutherland, she was their favorite and only daughter and she let them know this several times.

Jody was a graduate of Oak Hill High School.  She loved reading and music of all kinds.  Jody cherished her time spent with her friends, family, and most of all, her grandchildren.

Jody was blessed and survived by sons, Brandon Dillingham, Joshua Oakes, and Kyle Oakes.  He “boys” were the apple of her eye and she loved them dearly; her parents, Cathy Stewart, and Paul (Katrina) Sutherland; she has 3 younger brothers who always called her their “little sister” because they are all bigger than her, Jason Sutherland, Brownsboro, TX, Marc Sutherland Sr., Syracuse, IN, and Adam Sutherland, Decatur, IL; the joy of her life grandchildren, Gavin Dillingham, and Jeramiah Oakes.  She really spoiled both of them and tried to spend as much time with them as possible; her nieces and nephews, Paul, and Madison Sutherland, Tyler Sutherland, Anastasia, and Shelby Sutherland, Marc Sutherland Jr. and Brittnay Wright; her one living grandparent, Clyde Myers, Amboy; sister-in-law, Christie Sutherland, along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jody was preceded in death by her son, Roy Oakes, Jr.; grandmothers, Catherine “Kate” Myers, and Frances “Fanny” Sutherland, and grandfather, Rev. James Alvin Sutherland, Jody was his favorite and he didn’t care who knew it.

Jody will be missed my many, but we know she is dancing with Angels.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, January 6, 2017, at the Carpenters House Church, 37 W. 550 N., Kokomo.  Burial will follow in Friends Cemetery in Amboy.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-8 pm Friday at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shirley & Stout Funeral Home to help with final expenses.  Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory assisted the family with arrangements.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com.

Family of Jody Cromas,
There are few experiences more difficult than the loss of a loved one; no doubt Ms. Cromas will be sadly missed. I find comfort in knowing death was not God’s purpose for mankind and his purpose has not changed.
God’s word is clear, “He will swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces”. (Isaiah 25:8). It is comforting to know that the grief and sorrow we experience is temporary. (Revelation 21:4). It is because of Jehovah God’s purpose and great love for mankind, that the restoration of life is guaranteed!
As you know, Jesus not only spoke of the coming resurrection (John 5:21, 28, 29), he himself was resurrected by his Father and performed many miracles including resurrections. All such miraculous events took place on earth giving us a precious glimpse of what is to come.......seeing our loved ones again! (Acts 24:15)
As you cherish the many fond memories of Ms. Cromas, may Jehovah God continue to bless your family during this difficult time and in the days ahead......

Dear Kathy and Family,

Having lost a daughter myself, I can understand your sorrow right now, but know that God has a plan, and keep your faith. Much love to my grandson Brandon and great-grandson Gavin. Grandma is praying for you.
