Barbara “Barb” Jean Etherington, 74, Russiaville, passed away at 10:40 a.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family.  She was born December 5, 1942, in Adolphus, Kentucky, to Marvin and Idress (Gibbs) O’Neal.  On October 8, 1960, she married Donald Burrell Etherington, and he preceded her in death on November 7, 2012. 

Barb enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables, spending time with her sisters at the casino, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was a member of Christian Heritage Church where she was a previous Sunday School teacher.

Survivors include her daughters, Rita (Kenny) Buchanan, Shelley Etherington, Natalie (Rodney) Godfrey, Addie Etherington (Tony), and Brenda Ortega (Robert); grandchildren, Amber (Corey) Broman, Lindsey Buchanan, Raychelle (Erica) Dano, Tara (Adam) Walker, Robbie (Shianne) Ortega, Jordan Etherington, Brenton Etherington, Mason Godfrey, Taylor Godfrey, Gavin Kenner, and Ricky Ortega; eight great-grandchildren; and four sisters.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, eleven brothers and sisters, and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Christian Heritage Worship Center, 3007 E. Carter St., Kokomo, with Rev. Richard Cecil officiating.  Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.  Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville.  Memorial contributions may be made in Barb’s memory to Guardian Angel Hospice.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.stoutandson.com.

I have so many good memories of Don and Barb. I will never forget when she adopted 2 special little girls. Now she is with the love of her life,Don, again. I will bet my Mom was there at the gates to help greet her.

My deepest condolences to Brenda, her sisters and all the family. Barb was a caring wonderful lady. I know that her home going was celebrated joyously in the streets of heaven. I shall always remember this dear lady and fun loving personality.
