Arliss Colleen “Neenie” Wence, 85, Kokomo, passed away at 2:56 pm Friday, September 8, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo.  She was born November 1, 1931, in Terre Haute, the daughter of Martha Stader.  On January 13, 1952, she married Robert Wence who preceded her in death on August 9, 2015. 

Arliss was a 1950 graduate of Wylie High School.  She worked as an elevator operator at Roots Department Store in Terre Haute, a manager at Stop-N-Go in Kokomo, for Waffle House, and at a daycare at the YMCA.  She also babysat many, many kids as well as helping with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arliss loved to read, and bowl at the Handle Bar.  She attended Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer. She cherished the time she spent with family, especially her grandchildren.    

Arliss is survived by her children, Cheryl Dewire, Jerry  (Debbie) Wence, Pam (Mike) Hug, Carol (Richard) Hixon, and Gerri Humbert, along with 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Evelyn (Mickey) Magnetti, and Brenda (Jim) Smith, including several nieces, and nephews.

Arliss was preceded in death by her husband, mother, Martha Simmers, four brothers, one granddaughter, and two sons-in-laws.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor William Allison officiating.  Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from Noon until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com.
