Stephen Kent Kucholick, 62, passed away on November 18, 2013 in The Villages, Florida where he lived.  He was born on December 20, 1950 in Kokomo, IN to Stanley and Dana (St.John) Kucholick.  On May 10, 1975 he married Janet (Hinders) Kucholick and they were married for 38 years.

Steve was a 1968 graduate of Kokomo High School, and served in the US army from June 1970 until January 1972.  He was also a member of the knights of Columbus and St. Vincent De Paul's Catholic Church in Florida.  After 29 years of service he retired in 2004 from the City of Kokomo's Fire Department and moved to Florida.  There he enjoyed golfing and the many activities his community had to offer.  He will be forever remembered as a loving, doting grandfather who loved his grandchildren big.  I hope that as aunts, uncles, mothers and fathers we remind the grandchildren at every chance how much they meant to him.

He was survived by his daughter Nicole Kucholick of Kokomo (partner Jack Paul);  daughter Brianne and husband Brad Mitcham of Fort Wayne;  son Joshua Kucholick and wife Kerrie of Kokomo.  8 grandchildren whom he absolutely adored;  Zoe, Noa and Ava Wainscott.  Charlie, Jack and Ruby Mitcham.  Isabelle and Lillian Kucholick.  All of our lives are better at having been blessed to call him our Dad and our Grandpa.

Also survived by ten siblings;  Stanley Kucholick of Galveston;  Kathann Zehring of Fort Wayne;  Karole and Terry Smith of kokomo;  Christine and Mike McKillip of Converse; John Kucholick of kokomo;  Mark Kucholick (partner Diane) of Kokomo;  Debra and Dan Robinson of Kokomo;  Joe and Kim Kucholick of Kokomo;  James Kucholick of Kokomo and Karen Kucholick of Peru.  Several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.  Also a special cousin Andrea and George Ceglar of Ridgeland South Carolina.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Jansen Kucholick.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 320 W. Broadway Kokomo, IN 46901, with the Rev. Fr. Mike McKinley.  Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens with military rites.  Friends may visit with the family from 3-8 on Monday, November 25, 2013 at the church where a rosary service will be held at 7:30.  Stout and Son Funeral home in Russiaville assisted the family with arrangements.

So sorry for your loss. From about 1977-1983 Steve played for my late father's softball team here in Kokomo, IN. Steve was a very good athlete as I recall & dad would always play him in left field. I was the batboy then, and I remember traveling out of town for tournaments that Steve played in. His service to the KFD is superior service to our community.
